About us

The “Honey I am Starving” blog and Youtube channel was launched in January 2025. Based in Vancouver, Canada, the vision is to share delicious and healthy recipes that are easy to make by the average person. We run busy lives and barely have time for ourselves, so cooking healthy dishes at home and being efficient are of utmost priority.

What sets us apart is our recipes are straight to the point, easy to read and understand, and inspiring for you to try and experiment with variations. Oh, and in case you are wondering — they are all free!

So next time your spouse, parent, child, friend or significant other tells you “Honey, I am Starving!”, you have no excuse but to put something together really fast.

The Man behind the Scenes

My name is Tarek. I am of Lebanese and Georgian origins (the Republic in the Caucasus, not the US State.) I was born in Lebanon in the mid-eighties during the civil war, and during my youth, I didn’t have a particular interest or special passion for food.

Fast forward to the end of the nineties, we immigrated to Canada. Years later, we obtained citizenship, and my mom had to go back to Lebanon to work in her field to support me and my other two siblings studying simultaneously in universities; I was studying building engineering.

At 17 years old, that was my litmus test, and I had to pick up where my mom left off on every level, especially in the kitchen. Unfortunately, during late 2000s, the internet wasn’t as developed as it is today, and I had to learn to cook on my own mostly through trial and error. And boy, did I make errors and waste food so many times — and end up ordering in!

Fast forward to the past 5-10 years, I paid more interest to food-related and cooking Youtube channels and blogs. I also started cooking more advanced dishes and experimenting with recipes, especially in Lebanese, Italian and Asian cuisines. I never went to culinary school or claim to be a chef of any kind, I’m just passionate about cooking and food.

Cooking is so important. On top of being a necessity for survival and one of the pillars of good health, it has so many useful components that can be used in other fields, such as budget management, goods procurement, expertise in technique, hand dexterity, time management and presentation of results. In many ways, it is very similar to engineering, and I love that!

Through this blog and Youtube channel, I hope to share with the world my cooking knowledge and experience in  a clear, structured and concise manner.

Here are some of the dishes I cooked for fun over the past few years.
